Slow mornings made up of snuggles from my sweet dog Grace, sipping coffee with my future husband, and mastering the perfect fried egg.

Does Cher count?
I have always imagined a happy life filled with lots of freedom - freedom to do whatever I wanted; surrounded by the people that I cherish with this illuminating feeling of acceptance and love.
As a child, I was always happiest when I was outside, especially at the beach. I still get extremely happy when I am at/in/near the water. Funny, because I am an air sign.
My wit.
Sacrifice. (Is that a virtue?? I don’t know). To me, the notion has been perverted - that you must give up in order to achieve. In my experience, life is about a series of pivots and divine detours (which we call sacrifice).
The phrase, “I’m sorry”, has been long overused in my career-life. It’s been a WIP to reverse this over the last year or so. It took a TedTalk to get me to understand just how many women apologize in unnecessary situations.
A hidden talent of mine is being a drummer who used to play in an all-girl band. We had a decent run on a local record label playing around the southeast. I played until I was six months pregnant with my son and had to hang up my sticks for a while. Now we have a houseful of musicians and we have ridiculous fun playing together.
Outside of raising two decent human beings, starting a local charter school is my proudest moment. Working pro bono for six years, immersing myself in learning governance & educational laws, along with creating relationships with board members on both county & state levels has been the most fulfilling position I’ve had the honor of serving.
I would move back West in a heartbeat – either to the Bay Area or the Pacific NW.
"“All I know is”, “Clearly”, “Highlighted”, Galvanize”, “Let’s get started”, and puh-leeze” (for emphasis only). I know our group probably rolls their eyes when I say a few of these — you can thank my Midwest (Chicago) upbringing for some of them.
Helping people in any way that I can — putting smiles on faces just because.
Family and my precious LGBTQ+ family, the Hierarchy team and friends from around the world. They all have helped me grow every day in every way.

Rightneous – because it ok to say; “ I don’t know”.
I refuse to go into any large body of water that isn’t crystal blue because I have an irrational fear that there’s a ginormous carp or something at the bottom.
Other than my mom, I love Rihanna, Michelle Obama, and SZA. They’re all just smart, beautiful, inspirational black women who seem to have it all together.
I feel like I say “cutie pie” and “cool beans” way too much.
I’d want to come back as a rich person’s dog because I know I’d be pampered for my entire life. Being a little frog or a turtle would be cool, too. I could just chill in a pond all day or sit on a lily pad in the sun.
